tuition is set and paid through CAETE and the Continuing Education Bursar and Accounting Services group. For complete tuition information, see CAETE Rates for distance students.
Tuition paid by ITP students is determined by a combination of Colorado state, university, and program policy. Students are either admitted through the on-campus or distance education programs. The on-campus educational experience typically includes access to some resources and material that cannot be made available to distance education students, including the variety of resources and courses on the CU-Boulder campus outside of CAETE. The difference between Colorado resident and Colorado non-resident rates is set by the State. In certain cases, students can switch between tuition categories after admission. The most frequent cases are where students seek to reduce tuition by either switching from non-resident to resident status or from on-campus to distance education. Please click here to view in-depth policies regarding changing tuition categories.

Many students can qualify for loans, either federally guaranteed student loans (for U. S. citizens), loans sponsored by the student's home country (if not a U. S. citizen), or non-guaranteed loans offered by lending institutions. The ITP Master's degree is seen by most alumni as substantially improving career prospects, much as an MBA, JD, or MD degree does, and it is not unusual for students to borrow against increased future earning prospects to finance their educations. The university's office of financial aid provides information on many different types of financial aid.
ITP offers hourly paid student assistantships each semester. Preference goes to students with exceptional GPAs and outstanding grades in the courses in which they wish to assist. To apply, please complete the ITP Student Assistant Application Form, and e-mail form and resume to ITP Associate Director. Applications must be submitted by August 21 for fall semester and January 9 for spring.
Other departments offer on-campus positions to ITP students, please visit CU-Boulder's Student Employment website for current opportunities.
At this time, ITP does not offer any formal teaching assistant or research assistant positions. Several other departments offer teaching assistant positions with tuition remission benefits, ITP students are welcome to apply for those positions outside of our program. Students must contact professors directly to pursue those opportunities.
Active research faculty are sometimes able to raise funds to pay for student research assistants. A research assistant position is essentially the same as a teaching assistant position. Opportunities and application procedures are determined by individual faculty members, not by ITP.
Many students find an internship opportunity with a local company to be remunerative, educationally valuable, and career advancing. Internship opportunities are circulated to ITP students via the ITP Program e-mail listserv. ITP students are also encouraged to sign-up for CU-Boulder's Career Services program to find available internship positions.
